That's it,Windows Mail is now working again on Windows 8. You can then pin the WinMail shortcut to your desktop,taskbar or start menu,rename the shorcut Windows Mail if you wish. And place the Windows Mail program file in Programs on C/drive on Windows 8. Once you have deleted the Windows Mail program file from Windows 8,you need to copy the Windows Mail program file and all of the files in it, from Windows Vista or a Windows Vista computer onto Windows 8. And replace it with the Windows Mail program files from Windows Vista,which can be found in Programs on C/drive on Windows Vista. But the easiest way is to just delete the whole Windows 8 Windows Mail program file and all of the files in it.
Some people just delete the Windows 8 Msoe.dill file in the Windows Mail program file and replace it with the Msoe.dill from Windows Vista. Or Take Ownership because the file is locked by Windows.And so you won't be able to delete it, unless you take ownership of the Windows Mail program file, or use Unlocker which unlocks and deletes any file. Then after that you need to go to your Programs file(usually on C/drive) and then delete the inactive Windows Mail program file on Windows 8.To do this you need to install Unlocker ,download from C,Net here. So first you need to copy the Msidcrl30.dill from Windows/System 32 from Windows Vista or Windows 7,and then place it in the Windows/System32 folder on Windows 8. The Msidcrl30.dill ,dill file is included in both Windows Vista and Windows 7 and can be found in Windows/System 32 folder. The reason why Windows Mail is not working for many people on Windows 8, is because there is a dill file missing- Msidcrl30.dill ,which is needed to run Windows Mail. I have successfully installed Windows Mail from Windows Vista on my Windows 8,and Windows Mail is working on Windows 8 Consumer Preview and on Windows 8 Release Preview.As you can see in my picture taken from my netbook which is running Windows 8 32 bit.Īnd so I thought I would share with readers how I installed and got Windows Mail working on Windows 8.
